Samsung NX500 Review – Image Quality
Colour
At default settings NX500 gives an accurate, if slightly bland colour rendition in its JPEG output. It manages to retain colour saturation pretty well as the ISO is raised, but from ISO 6400 onwards it visibly deteriorates.
Resolution
The NX500’s 28MP sensor is the highest resolution available for APS-C, and delivers loads of detail. At ISO 100 it’s capable of 3800 lph on our test chart, dropping gradually to about 3200lph at ISO 3200, but falling off rapidly after that.
Noise
At ISO 100 barely any noise is visible, and this remains true up to ISO 800. Noise starts to impact on fine detail at ISO 1600, and at ISO 6400 and above it becomes very destructive indeed.
