The Fujifilm F100fd features a 12-megapixel CCD sensor, wide dynamic range and a 5x zoom.
Fujifilm Finepix F100fd Review
Feature Set
The F100fd is Fujifilm’s highest-resolution compact and employs a 12MP SuperCCD SR sensor. Among its many technologies are face detection, dynamic range expansion, and a dual image stabilisation.
Dual Image Stabilisation
Fujifilm’s dual image stabilisation feature is perhaps the real headline-grabber, featuring not just optical image stabilisation for its 5x zoom, but also auto ISO sensitivity stretching as high as ISO 12,800. Fujifilm’s strategy is to use the optical stabilisation to counteract camera shake, and high ISO to remove subject-based movement.
Performance and Image Quality
The camera is somewhat pedestrian in style, following a traditional design ethos. It’s easy to use and while not the slimmest on the market, it’s still pocketable. Images are generally very good, though more photographic control would be appreciated. I particularly like the wide dynamic range expansion.
Verdict
Performance is good and the image quality at the lower end of the ISO scale is excellent.
