The HX90V enters a competitive travel compact market, but with a design overhaul it looks set to take on the current champions.

Sony HX90V Review – Verdict
On the whole the overhaul of the HX60V that has taken place to get to the HX90V has been successful. There have been certain omissions made, most noticeably the loss of the hotshoe and exposure compensation dial, however the target user of the HX90V will no doubt happily dispense with those two features for the reduction in size as a result of the changes.
Perhaps the most noticeable general omission from the HX90V is Raw image capture. That being said the HX90V delivers great JPEG image quality and, as with the other changes, the casual photographer will no doubt be happy to shoot JPEG only.
The rest of the camera’s features are perfectly suited to the travel photographer, and there’s no doubt that the HX90V is well set in the competitive travel compact market.
